2021 Admission Rule Change Approaches
New Testing Requirement (Extensions added)
In order to be accepted into an Educator Preparation Program (EPP), such as Texas Teachers of Tomorrow, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires applicants to successfully meet all admission criteria. Currently, only two basic requirements must be met, allowing future teachers to easily enroll and get started immediately. Unfortunately, this may change as 2021 soon approaches.
Texas Teachers will be implementing a critical rule change thus imposing the requirement to take an exam prior to being granted admission and accepted to the program in 2021. Texas Teachers granted an extension of February 28, 2021, to enroll!
TEA requires all future teachers in Texas to demonstrate subject matter knowledge in a certification area prior to being admitted into an EPP. To fulfill this requirement, potential candidates must take and pass the Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT).

Final Opportunity to Enroll
Admission to Texas Teachers currently only requires a 2.5 GPA or higher, in addition to 12-15 hours of college credits in a specific subject area which correlates with a content exam. Alternatively, one may opt for the PACT Path if they have a GPA between 2.30-2.49 and pass a content-specific exam (PACT). Take advantage of these simple admission requirements and enroll before the end of the year.
In 2021, gaining admission is expected to become more difficult, as the GPA requirement for those following the PACT Path will increase. A higher GPA requirement may render many candidates ineligible or be placed on a waiting list. If you wish to pursue a career in teaching, now is the time to start. Waiting until the new year could have devastating consequences.
Avoid Unnecessary Fees
To learn more about what the PACT entails, please thoroughly review the outlined information from the TEA. All PACT exams must be paid for upfront by candidates before gaining program admission. In the event that you do not possess the minimum requirement of college credit hours, you will likely be required to take two separate exams, therefore doubling your cost.
