Nevada is scrambling as their teacher shortage has hit a critical level with Governor Sandoval going so far as to declare a state of emergency to take swift action on reciprocity to hopefully fill positions. Nevada needs about 3,000 new teachers per year but colleges of education only produce about 600 leaving a gap of 2,400 teachers each year. Last September Clark County started the year with 1,000 vacancies and still needed 700 in December. It truly is sad that so many students will be taught by long term subs – so we are going to apply for acceptance in Nevada.
