The Florida teaching shortage continues to get worse. Same issues as other states but with a heavier increase in student population, the schools cannot keep up. The recent Learning Policy Institute study highlighted Florida’s struggles with the fact 28% of all teachers in the state have less than 3 years experience.
It is one of the reasons we launched Florida Teachers! To help school districts fill the gap – as noted in the article:
“Florida’s student population, which will top 2.8 million this year, has grown while the number of graduates from teacher preparation programs has dropped by more than 2,500 since 2009. But educators trained through a variety of alternative programs have filled the gap.”
Alternative teacher certification programs are the answer to getting more teachers in the classroom and nobody does it better than we do.
