In order to teach in Florida, you must obtain a teaching certificate through one of the various certification pathways offered in Florida. The certifications that are needed to teach in Florida, are a valid Professional Certificate issued by The Florida Department of Education, The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), as well as, passing the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations. The three FTCE examinations are the subject area exam, General Knowledge Test, and Professional Education Test. The examinations test general knowledge, professional education competence, educational leadership, and subject area knowledge.
