All Educator Preparation Institutes require individuals to have a GPA of a 2.5 or higher in the major area to qualify for a Temporary Certificate. If you don’t meet this requirement, you still have options outside of our program! You can pursue additional degrees at the post-bachelor level and use the updated GPA from the completed degree. We advise you to reach out to the FLDOE to see what other paths you can take for your certification journey!
You can send your official transcripts three different ways. The quickest and most reliable method is to order your transcripts using a one of the approved transcript ordering services featured on our transcripts page. The second is to request that your university send electronic official transcripts or to scan official transcripts to transcripts@floridateachers.org. Alternatively, you may send them via standard mail.
The Garnishment Waiver is a state-required document. If you provide more than one-half the support for a child or other dependent, all or part of your income is exempt from garnishment under Florida Law. You can waive this protection only by signing this document. To start the program, this document will need to be signed.
Yes. A completed Background Check is part of the admission process. It is simple and free!
Yes. You need to be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be admitted.
We recommend applying after your degree has been awarded to you and reflects that on your transcripts.
A Statement of Eligibility (SOE) is not a certificate. The SOE is a document that outlines your certification requirements to obtain a Professional Certificate in the state of Florida. The SOE also allows you to become hired in the Subject Area for which you have applied. The Florida Department of Education lists out all requirements to be issued both a Temporary Certificate and a Professional Certificate. A Temporary Certificate is the document you receive once you have been hired with an ‘Eligible’ Statement of Eligibility.
If your Statement of Eligibility reflects a ‘Not Eligible’ status, the next recommended step is to take and pass your Subject Area Exam. A passing score will improve your eligibility.
You will get your Professional Certificate once you have completed the program requirements, including passing all state required exams.
Certification requirements vary state to state. If you are curious to learn about reciprocation policies and procedures, please contact the state’s department of education.
The CG-10 is the $75.00 application that you send to the Florida Department of Education to receive your Statement of Eligibility.
