The Nevada Department of Education requires each teacher candidate to pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exam (Praxis Core) to measure your fundamental knowledge and skills. You can become exempt from the Praxis Core if you hold a conferred master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with certain GRE scores, or by passing the CBEST.
In addition to the Praxis Core or exemption from it, secondary teachers (Grades 7-12) will take the Nevada Praxis Subject Assessment for their content specific area. Candidates must pass all exams (or meet qualifying exemptions criterion) in order to apply for the Standard License.
