If you have already applied to our program and are committed to making a difference in the lives of students, then let’s get you going on the right path to certification. Our Get Hired initiative is getting more qualified teachers into schools this year. There is a real shortage of teachers in this country and together we can help solve it!
Prepare to pass your certification exam(s). Our Test Prep modules will give you a leg up on passing your exam(s), and our free study resources give you that extra boost. Register for your exam(s) as soon as possible to reserve your desired date/time. Make sure you have fully prepared yourself for the correct exam, as TEA rules state you must wait 45 days until you can take another one. Use all of our resources to your advantage! Content exams must be passed in order to become eligible for hire.
Start your training right away. Once your enrollment fee is paid, you will receive immediate access to everything you need to get hired in the classroom. Log into your Intern Portal and begin the Preparing for the Profession module to get started. Use the What’s Next checklist in your Intern Portal to keep track of your progress.
The newly adopted provisions of the 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 228, Requirements for Educator Preparation Programs are effective September 1, 2024. To ensure our compliance with these new requirements and the expectations related to Field-Based Experiences (FBEs), any candidate enrolled on or after September 1, 2024 must complete 50 total FBE hours. Contact your Program Advisor for more information.
Once you have completed all requirements, confirm they have been checked off on your What’s Next Checklist in your Intern Portal. Navigate to the Enrollment Letter/SOE tab and download both documents. These documents show that you are enrolled in Texas Teachers (Enrollment Letter) and have completed all your pre-service requirements (SOE) to become eligible for hire. You will need to use these documents when applying for jobs.
Begin looking for teaching positions immediately after passing your certification exam(s). You can access a list of districts/schools around the state and view their teacher job openings directly from their website on our Teacher Job Openings page. Be sure to use our job search resources page to help you craft your resume and prepare for interviews!
Start your first year teaching with full support. Once you are hired, you will begin teaching with full pay, full benefits, and full support. You receive guidance from your Texas Teachers Field Supervisor, an experienced educator who will visit your classroom 5 times throughout the year, and is always on call to answer your questions.
