{"id":1089,"date":"2016-07-08T17:15:53","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T17:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/?p=1089"},"modified":"2019-09-27T09:20:21","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:20:21","slug":"utah-alternative-teacher-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/blog\/insights\/utah-alternative-teacher-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Utah Alternative Teacher Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month, the Utah State School Board approved a <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/blog\/insights\/utahs-teaching-door-wide-open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new alternative teaching certification<\/a> route that allowed people with a degree to begin teaching quickly. Their training and support would come after they were in the classroom. That route would be approved in August unless something happened.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like that something is going to happen. \u00a0Opponents of the new route have pushed for a<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/i3ylSP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> hearing in August<\/a>. \u00a0And it looks like that hearing will happen before August 4th.<\/p>\n<p>We will keep an eye on this and work to find a way to help career changers move into the classroom while at the same time making sure they are prepared with the skills necessary to be a successful teacher in the first year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last month, the Utah State School Board approved a new alternative teaching certification route that allowed people with a degree to begin teaching quickly.
