The Special Education teacher shortage has hit school really hard this year. \u00a0Arkansas has 400 Special Ed teachers on waivers because they cannot fill all the positions they have open.<\/p>\n<p>According to an <a href=\"http:\/\/katv.com\/news\/education\/shortage-of-special-education-teachers-reported-districts-desperate-to-fill-positions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article from Arkansas<\/a> the reason for the shortage is that: &#8220;Teachers that end up pursuing a special education license are nearly twice as likely to leave the profession than their counterparts in general education, at a rate of about 12 percent, according to the National Coalition on Personnel Shortages in Special Education and Related Services.&#8221; &#8211; mainly because of the paperwork associated with Special needs students.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last two years we have provided over 1,700 special education teachers to our schools. So while we know we can&#8217;t solve all the shortages &#8211; we can provide immediate help to our schools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is the most critical shortage schools face today.
