Same issues as other states but with a heavier increase in student population, the schools cannot keep up. \u00a0The recent <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/blog\/insights\/understanding-teacher-shortages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learning Policy Institute<\/a> study highlighted Florida&#8217;s struggles with the fact<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/local\/palm-beach\/fl-florida-teacher-shortage-20160915-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 28% of all teachers in the state<\/a> have less than 3 years experience.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the reasons we launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridateachers.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida Teachers<\/a>! To help school districts fill the gap &#8211; as noted in the article:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Florida&#8217;s student population, which will top 2.8 million this year, has grown while the number of graduates from teacher preparation programs has dropped <strong>by more than 2,500<\/strong> since 2009. But educators trained through a variety of alternative programs have filled the gap.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Alternative teacher certification programs are the answer to getting more teachers in the classroom and nobody does it better than we do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida teaching shortage continues to get worse.
