{"id":14836,"date":"2019-10-14T12:19:57","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T17:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/?p=14836"},"modified":"2019-10-14T12:32:52","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T17:32:52","slug":"florida-teacher-pay-raise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/blog\/insights\/florida-teacher-pay-raise\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Teacher Pay Raise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following a trend of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/blog\/insights\/arizona-teachers-pay-goes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona<\/a> and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/texas\/teacher-resources\/teaching-in-texas-blog\/texas-teacher-salary-schedule-increase-pursuant-house-bill-3-hb3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas<\/a> teacher pay raises, Florida Governor Desantis has proposed a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridapoliticalreview.com\/florida-gov-ron-desantis-proposes-higher-teacher-salaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida teacher pay raise<\/a> moving the starting salary from $37,636 to $47,500 &#8211; a pretty substantial move.\u00a0 This would make Florida number 2 in the nation in starting teacher salaries.<\/p>\n<p>That will cost the state over $422 million so it is by no means a done deal &#8211; but it has a lot of support and the state has seen that pay raises to impact teacher recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Teachers<\/a> program saw a 40% increase in applications after the pay raise.
