More than half of teachers taking the Praxis elementary test fail according to a new report from NCTQ reported by the 74<\/a>. What’s worse – just 57% of Hispanic and 38% of black applicants are successful.<\/p>\n

Here we are trying to make sure that we have a more diverse teaching workforce and we have only 38% of potential black teachers passing the Praxis.<\/p>\n

This is a reality in many of the educator preparation exams – we have disparate impact of these exams on potential teachers of color.<\/p>\n

If we truly want a diverse teaching workforce we have to look at the teacher tests and make sure we are not hurting those recruitment efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
