As the U.S. enters a recession, it’s time to discuss the next steps. A nationwide teacher shortage is, unfortunately, still an issue. Teachers of Tomorrow has been working hard to close the gap and provide students with the quality teachers they need. In the coming weeks, months and years, it is important to understand that teachers are needed now and will be needed in the future. Here’s why:

As school district after school district continues to close its doors, lessons must still be taught. The core of economic success is rooted in education. To help our nation remain competitive, tomorrow’s leaders need a strong foundation. Teachers remain our nation’s constant, valuable resource. Become a teacher and support our children and our economy through these challenging times.

Historically speaking, job loss is statistically inevitable during a recession. Millions of Americans may lose their jobs. While job losses are imminent, unemployment is avoidable. It’s time to be proactive and not wait for the inevitable. If your or industry lacks security, you can do something about it now. It’s time to consider changing careers and applying to become a teacher.

Over half of all teachers (65% in Texas) have prior work experience and come through alternative preparation programs. Use this to your advantage. Life experience is not something that can be taught; you’ve worked hard to acquire it. These skills are transferable and will help you master the profession better than you would have the first time around. Future generations need a teacher with experience, like yours. Current teachers around the world are going above and beyond to assure student lessons are still delivered, any way possible. They’re truly doing an amazing job, but they simply can’t do it alone.

Teachers are needed right now. Are you ready to become one of them?
