{"id":3376,"date":"2017-08-22T09:01:53","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T14:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/?p=3376"},"modified":"2019-09-27T09:15:40","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:15:40","slug":"teachers-turnover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teachersoftomorrow.org\/blog\/insights\/teachers-turnover\/","title":{"rendered":"Teachers Turnover -getting worse?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do we expect that every new teacher will stay in the profession for 30 years or is teacher turnover now the norm with millennials who want to experience many careers.<\/p>\n<p>The answer is that teacher turnover is the new norm.<\/p>\n<p>There is a great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/08\/21\/health\/teacher-shortage-data-trnd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chart at CNN<\/a> on teacher turnover that kind of explains what is going on.<\/p>\n<p>At the very high end of expected turnover (the average is 8%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AZ &#8211; 11.9%<\/li>\n<li>NV &#8211; 11.5%<\/li>\n<li>MD &#8211; 10.9%<\/li>\n<li>TX \u00a0&#8211; 10.7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the low end &#8211; doing some great things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SD &#8211; 2.8%<\/li>\n<li>IL -2.9%<\/li>\n<li>MA &#8211; 3.5%<\/li>\n<li>WY &#8211; 3.7%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Turnover\u00a0is not going away.
