Step 1. Apply<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The first step can be completed before you finish reading this \u201cHow-To\u201d guide. Take one minute of your time and apply<\/a>. It\u2019s easy and free. The program requirements are simple \u2013 you\u2019ll need a 4-year bachelor\u2019s degree and a GPA of 2.7.<\/p>\n

Our dedicated team is here to help you throughout the process. After submitting your online application, followed by your transcripts, one of our experienced Program Advisors will reach out to you. Together, you\u2019ll work on creating a strategy \u2013 made just for you \u2013 to help you earn your teaching license. Your Program Advisor will serve as a valuable asset in helping you select which subject area best highlights your natural skills and abilities as a future teacher.<\/p>\n

Step 2. Test & Train <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Once you\u2019re officially enrolled in the program, your teacher training is underway. After your Program Advisor helps you determine which licensure area you\u2019d like to pursue, it\u2019s time to pass your North Carolina state tests. Now, let\u2019s get to the substance (a.k.a. \u2013 the exciting part) of your teacher preparation. As soon as you\u2019re admitted into the program, you have instant access to your Classroom Readiness training modules. Our flexible learning modules are 100% online and available to you 24\/7. You have the freedom to set your own schedule and learn on your own time. Developed by leading educators, we aim to provide you with nothing short of the best. As you dive into more than 100 hours of Classroom Readiness training, you\u2019ll lay the groundwork needed to become a successful teacher. Step. 3 Teach<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You\u2019ve mastered your content area test(s) and Classroom Readiness Training \u2013 congrats! Shake off those butterflies and prepare to teach. You\u2019ve invested a lot to get to this point and you\u2019re ready. It\u2019s time to secure your first-year teaching position on a Residency License. During your first year, you\u2019ll work as a full-time teacher, earning full pay and benefits (it\u2019s the real deal).<\/p>\n

For any questions along the way, we\u2019ve got your back. You\u2019ll be paired with a Field Supervisor to help guide you. Take advantage of having a skilled educator to offer support and advice; they\u2019re there to help! While you teach your first two full academic semesters in a North Carolina classroom, you\u2019ll also finish your Excellence in Teaching and Learning training modules. You\u2019re so close!<\/p>\n

Step 4. Earn Your License!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

An entire year of teaching in a classroom is a huge accomplishment. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. If necessary, you\u2019ll also have an additional year to complete your portfolio-based assessment. We\u2019ll walk you through what this is during the program.<\/p>\n

Next, pending the recommendation of your Principal and Field Supervisor, it\u2019s time to upgrade your teacher status. This is the proud moment where North Carolina Teachers of Tomorrow provides you with a letter of completion along with a transcript of your completed coursework.<\/p>\n

The rest is up to you. With these documents, you may now apply for your North Carolina Initial Professional Educator\u2019s License. Once you have it, get out there and teach for a better tomorrow!<\/p>\n
