Become A Certified Teacher Today!

Congratulations! You are on your way to becoming eligible to teach in the state of Michigan. One of the things you must complete before you are able to start teaching is to take and pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC). If you are unsure where to start, we’re here to help! We’ve created a guide to help you achieve eligibility. Ready to learn more? Keep reading!

How to Register

Registration can be done in just two easy steps! First, you’ll need to go to the Michigan Department of Education MTTC Registration Site and create an account. You’ll need a valid email address and social security number to complete your account registration. Once you’ve registered, you will have access to testing dates and locations. You can also search for multiple exams at the same time! The MTTC webpage is easy to navigate and does a great job of walking you through the registration process.

When registering for an exam, it’s important to only sign up for an MTTC exam for an endorsement that is offered at Michigan Teachers. You can visit our page on the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) website to see which endorsement areas we offer. Check out the MDE Quick Reference guide to see which courses you can take with each endorsement!

How to Study

After you’ve registered for your exam, you’ll need some resources to ensure you ace it! The Michigan Department of Education provides general information on each MTTC exam. Simply click on the test you’ve registered for to see all the necessary information, including some preparation materials. Knowing this information ahead of time will help you feel more prepared and comfortable when you take your exam. There are also some free downloadable study guides that are provided by the MDE. The MTTC practice tests are $29 each, and they include a full-length, interactive test simulation with sample test questions. However, these are not applicable for all tests.

Michigan Teachers is here to help you ace your exam, which is why we’ve compiled even more resources to help you study! We’ve listed some amazing test prep and discounts on our State Tests Resources page. We also offer premium test prep for your MTTC through our test prep company, The Learning Liaisons.

How to Send In Your Scores

Once you’ve successfully passed your exam, your scores are automatically sent to us. There are no extra steps for you to take! We will process your scores once we’ve received them and update your Intern Portal, so be sure to check periodically after you’ve taken your exam. It’s that simple!
